I bought a Taylor (admittedly a lower end model, but >$700 nevertheless) and was surprised to find a label inside, up near the neck, that said "Made In Mexico". Yes! I had basically the same experience. Scottyo7 wrote rscain wrote scottyo7 wroteSorry not clear. Maybe one day, we can just 3D print a guitar out of graphite exactly how we want it? I really don't care where a guitar comes from as long as it's 'feel' is there.
It shipped to ESP in CA., was "set up" there with a certificate stating such and it plays really well.īottom line. So I read reviews and I chose the version made in Korea ( I think). how do you offer these bargains.Ĩ years ago I bought an ESP guitar and quickly found I didn't want to spend $4000 for the USA made version in California (CA). Rscain, thanks for the clear information. Rscain wrote scottyo7 wroteSorry not clear. (actually good for me, it makes it possible for me and a lot of people like me to do what we do). The point of all this is just to say this is the way things are now, good or bad. Seymour Duncan, Grover, Alpha, and a lot of other parts makers have licensed their designs to be manufactured overseas (read:Asia). Even some of the parts you may think are made in the USA aren't. Unless you're spending $1000 or more you're probably buying an import. Not only Squires and Epiphones but Gretsch, Jackson, Charvel, and low end Fender, Gibson, G&L, and PRS, on and on. Three big factories and countless other small ones make about 90% of the guitars. The fact is the vast majority of the guitars sold in the world today are made in China, Korea, or Indonesia. And this isn't aimed at anyone it's just something I found amazing. I certainly didn't until I did some research.
I hope you don't mind but I wanted to clarify something that I think a lot of folks don't understand. If you don't like it I fix it or give you your money back.Īgain, I apologize if I was misleading, that was never my intention. Or, we can go middle ground but I don't get much call for that.Īnd I personally set each guitar up according to how the player wants, as well as working on the neck to give it a little more of a "played in" feel, hand polishing the frets, etc.Īnd each guitar has a 30 day no questions asked money back guarantee. But each pickup has the proper output to either (a)reproduce the "vintage" sound of that particular model, or, (b)push the h*ll out of your amp's input stage. I also have the pickups made to my specs, I don't wind them myself. Yes, the bodies and necks come from China, but I have them built to my specifications. that's quite cool.Īctually, the fault is mine, reading my post I realize I didn't make that clear. I did read on your site that your source is China for the body/neck/fretboard. Usually you get what you pay for and we've all played real Les Pauls and Strats that weren't worth their price tag. I couldn't see how anyone could actually make a guitar in the USA and sell it for ~$300 or less.ĭon't get me wrong, I'm all for the little guy.
